Edit your SLO

Reading time: 0 minute(s) (0 words)
See how to edit an SLOโ€”how changing certain attributes can impact the way SLOs are calculated.

After editing an SLO, you may notice some changes impacting calculations. The exact behavior is determined by what fields in the SLO you edit. Depending on the fields you change, you can expect one of the following outcomes:

  • The SLO calculations are restarted afresh from the moment of the edit.
  • The error budget is not reset and the budget history is retained.
  • The changes made result in losing your historical data displayed on the charts.

The following graph indicates which SLO attributes can be changed without triggering a reset and those changes that will cause the SLO calculations to be reset.

The Y or N indicates whether the changes result in resetting the chartsโ€”therefore, losing the historical data.

note

You cannot edit the incremental setting for an already created ratio metric SLO objective. To change this, remove the existing objective and create a new one with the required method. For more information, refer to the SLO calculations guide.

Well done! Now, jump to Create SLO with Replay and create your SLO using the historical data!
