Data retrieval period
- SLI Analyzer retrieves historical data from the data source. You can configure this period for each analysis individually. For this, set Graph time window to the required range.
- By default, Graph time range = Maximum period for historical data retrieval set for your data source.
- For proper SLI Analyzer operation, set the graph time window to at least five minutes.
Prerequisite
To ensure SLI Analyzer operation for your required data source, set the data source's maximum period for historical data retrieval to five minutes or more.
Limitations and RBAC
- Two slots are allocated for every organization. This means you can run two imports and analyses at a time.
Track job progress in the Job Status widget. - To import and analyze historical data and to create SLOs from analyses, your role must be Organization admin, Project owner, or Project editor.
Learn more about RBAC.
Data sources can alter data from the past
Metric gathering systems usually downsample older data using different aggregate functions like mean
or sum
or simply by dropping data points. This is aimed at saving space and can affect the result of a query made against a time range in the past. Refer to the documentation of your required data source for more details.
Query configuration limitations
- SLI Analyzer doesn't support historical data import for
bad-over-total
ratio metrics in Amazon CloudWatch. Although, you can build SLOs based on this metric. - SLI Analyzer doesn't support rolling time windows.
